Alex was born in Beijing, China but moved to London, England at a very young age, eventually settling in Ottawa, Ontario. He attended Merivale High School and was actively involved in the school band, track and field team, Dragon Boat team and the Junior Achievement program. He also enjoyed dance, skiing, and playing piano while choreographing multiple acts for the Multicultural Show. His high school leadership experiences culminated in being elected as the co-president of the school.

 Since entering Queen’s University, Alex has strived to develop his various interests by participating in case competitions such as DECA Queen’s and Q3C, consulting small and medium sized enterprises through CREO Solutions, and conducting economic research through leading the Queen’s Global Markets. Furthermore, he is looking forward to giving back to the student body in his role on QUIC as portfolio manager for the Metals & Mining sector.

An avid traveler with an interest in food and culture, Alex has been to 5 continents and 18 countries. He thoroughly enjoyed his one semester exchange at the ESADE Business School in Spain during the winter semester of 2011.

Developing a passion for finance, Alex spent the summer of 2010 at the Royal Bank of Scotland in Beijing, interning with the Financial Institutions Group. He then spent the summer of 2011 working at the CPP Investment Board for the Relationship Investments team and the summer of 2012 completing an internship in the investment banking division at BMO Capital Markets for the Financial Institutions team. Moreover, Alex will be returning to the Relationship Investments team at the CPP Investment Board for full-time employment.
